Legislative and Industry News:

~~~~~Attention Builders & Remodelers - Last Call~~~~~
Building Code Changes are on the way ...........
As a result of Act 36 of 2017, the PA UCC Review & Advisory Council (RAC) has been conducting its re-review of the previously unadopted code provisions in the 2012 and 2015 ICC codes. On May 1, 2018, the RAC submitted their report to the Department of Labor & Industry which details the results of this voting process, thus ending this review period. The code provisions that were adopted during this process will take effect on October 1, 2018.
The overall result of this process as it relates to residential construction is that the 2015 International Residential Code and the residential portion of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code were adopted with approximately 22 amendments. These amendments include provisions that were not adopted and therefore stay with 2009 language, provisions that were modified based on RAC input and discussion, and provisions that were modified to include language similar to what appears in the 2018 codes
What should you do???
If interested - the BBBA can work with the PHRC (Pennsylvania Housing Research Center at Pennsylvania State University) to conduct a seminar with the updated code information. This can take place if we get enough interest from builders and remodelers.....so if interested, please respond to this notification so that we can develop a list to see if we have enough support to conduct such a seminar.
